[ Karl-Fischer 적정의 원리 및 장점 ]
Karl-Fischer 적정법은 염기(base)와 이산화황(SO2)의 존재 하에 알코올 용액 내에서 물(H2O)과 요오드(I2)의 1:1 반응을 이용하여 수분 함량을 측정하는 방법입니다.
즉, 화학적으로 H2O, 순수 수분에 대해서만 선택적으로 측정이 가능하며, 분석시간이 빠르고, 사용이 간편하며, ppm ~ 100% 전 범위에 걸쳐 정밀하고 정확한 측정이 가능한 장점들이 있습니다.
[ TitroLine® KF trace 제품 특징 ]
칼피셔 시리즈 중 TitroLine® KF trace는 미량 수분을 측정할 수 있는 Coulometric Karl-Fischer 적정기에 해당됩니다.
이는 고체, 액체, 기체 시료의 수분 함량이 극미량일 때 사용되며, 일반적으로 수분 함량의 측정 범위는 1 ppm ~ 5% 입니다.
제품의 특징 중 하나는, vessel 내 generator 전극 부분에서 KF 시약으로부터 요오드를 직접 생산하여 수분(H2O)을 측정하기 때문에 TitroLine® KF와는 달리 뷰렛 부분이 없다는 것입니다.
이로써 TitroLine® KF trace는 generator 전극에 다이어프램(diaphragm)이 있느냐 없느냐에 따라 크게 두 종류로 나뉩니다. 일반적으로 다이어프램이 있는 경우는 낮은 ppm의 수분에서 안정하며, 오차가 적으나 세척이 다소 어려울 수 있습니다. 반면 다이어프램이 없는 경우는 보다 높은 ppm의 수분에 적합하며, 세척이 용이하므로 보다 보편적으로 사용되고 있습니다.
