일반적으로 멤브레인 필터에 비해 유체의 흐름을 제한하기 때문에 멤브레인 필터를 보호하고 수명을 연장시키기 위한 prefilter로 사용하기에 적합하다. 또한 배출가스의 대기오염 모니터링, Bioassay용,특히 입자 및 세포파편의 수집 및 분석에도 자주 사용된다.

<종 류>

Type AP15
가장 낮은 오염 물질 수용성을 가지고 있으며, 0.2um에서 0.6um의 pore size를 갖는 필터의 전처리여과로 적합하다.
Type AP20
AP15 유형에 비해 덜 촘촘한 섬유질 구조를 가지며, 0.8에서 8um의 pore size를 갖는 필터의 전처리여과로 적합하다. 또한 AP15 유형 필터의 전처리여과로도 사용 된다.
Type AP25
AP20 유형에 비해 구조는 덜 촘촘 하지만, 두께는 더 두껍기 때문에 포집율은 거의 비슷하고 오염물질 수용력은 훨씬 높다. 0.8에서 8um 필터의 전처리여과로 사용되며, 단백질 함유 수용액이나 심하게 오염 된 용액의 여과에 적합하다. 또한 AP15 유형 필터의 전처리여과로도 사용 된다.
Type AP40
유기 흡착제 없이 제작 되어 샘플 여과 후 550℃
에서 점화 되더라도 중량 감소 없이 구조적 특성을 유지 한다. 또한 폐수, 산업폐기물의 오염물질 분석, aerosol sampling 등에서 휘발성 및 비휘발성 부유물 분석에 적합하다.
